Behind the Poem
I was sifting through my work the other day and came across one of my favorite poems from the Forward project I participated in last year. The poem was inspired by a postcard of a beautiful mountain-side with a road that had been paved along it. The picture made me think about the ways we, as humans, treat our environment. I remember learning that it is easier for a person to mistreat someone once they have disassociated themselves... I guess the same could be said of things and places.
For ease,
They slip blade from
Derma to osteo
Osteo to marrow.
Forced flaws
In your beautiful face
To make you easier
To navigate.
