Breaking Into Theatre
Toward the beginning half of April I had the immense pleasure of participating in a play written by the incomparable Anastacia Renee, titled "Queer, Mama. Crossroads". It was one of the best experiences I've had lately to bond with my fellow cast mates and pay homage to queer Black mothers who've died at the malice of police brutality. Every night we had an unique opportunity and challenge of engaging the audience into the lives and narratives that typically don't get attention, and everyone involved took that responsibility seriously. After putting as much as we could into these characters for 4 consecutive days without breaking down, our closing night came to an emotional somewhat bittersweet conclusion. Read more about the production here and hopefully I'll have pictures from it soon!
